CogAT – Cognitive Aptitude Test

CogAT stands for Cognitive Aptitude test which was first published in 1968. It is a national level test. It is mostly utilized by the school districts to identify Gifted learners in the district. The CogAT is not an IQ test, but it measures a student’s reasoning abilities. The abilities tested in three key areas verbal, quantitative, and nonverbal, can together provide a comprehensive view of a student’s overall reasoning abilities.  The reasoning skills develop gradually throughout a person’s lifetime and at different rates for different individuals and can be learned and be improved. It is very helpful for parents to understand their kid’s strengths and weaknesses.
